She received a letter of Maria Torck, mother of Belle's friend Eusebia, about Belle who had stayed with them for a while:
"Wij hebben veertien dagen Belle te logeren gehad. Zij was gelukkig aardig en goed gehumeurd, wilde zich wel tot ons verlagen en leek tevreden, al hadden wij dan ook weinig geest aan te bieden en heeft ze in plaats daarvan dikwijls kinderlijke gesprekken moeten aanhoren." (2-7-1765).
[Comm. Dubois:] Uit de toon is de kleinzielige afgunst hoorbaar die Belle wel vaker zal hebben ontmoet.
