Born and married into the Transylvanian aristocracy, Wesselenyi travelled extensively in Italy in 1835. She met and marrried the English physician John Paget, who then moved to Transylvania with her, set up a model estate and wrote, probably in conjunction with Wesselenyi, the volume 'Hungary and Transylvania'. Emigrated to England in 1849 after the fall of the 1848-49 anti-Habsburg uprising, returned to Transylvania in 1855, rebuilt her estate.
