Her family house became a literary salon gathering large part of the intellectual elite of Sofia (Bulgaria). She is the beloved friend of one of the most cherished Bulgarian authors of all times - Ivan Vazov.
Working mentored by Ivan Vazov, the most famous Bulgarian writer. Some critics thought that he is the author of some of her works.
She liked Madame de Stael, Zinaida Volkonska and the French actress mademoiselle Mars. Perhaps that is the idea of her choice of a pseudonym. By the end of 1906 she published her first book -"'Iz zhivota''. In her home, every Thursday there were discussions about cultural events, news, according to the literature, theater and music. Mars has worked into many different genres, but mostly in beletristics and drama. Her novels are realistic, but also psychological. Characters are facing a severe life problem which is concentrated in love-''Razbito syrce''/''Broken heart'',''Vyv Vylnite''/''Into the waves'',''Idiliata na mladostta'''/The idyll of juvenility''. She also had got two plays-''Bozhana'' 1912. There was a argument that this one had been written by Ivan Vazov. The other one is ''Magda''1918-there were no doubts about it who the author is.
She is been closely related to Ivan Vazov. She is remembered by her contemporaries with a huge spiritual pride, style, big souls, always very open to the people. Her last compilation of novel-1935-''CHovekyt s dripi''/''The man with rags''. She is considered as the first woman in social and cultural life in Bulgaria. She left 80 novels and 3 dramas, 2 of which were performed in the Bulgarian National Theater in Sofia. |
