Provisional Notes Liisi Karttunen was a historian and a diplomat. She become M.A. 1905 and Doctor of Philosophy 1910. Karttunen travelled to Rome with PhD Henry Biaudét to research the archives of the Vatican. Karttunen got only a small salary and she worked also as a guide and journalist. Karttunen was in love with divorced Biaudét which affected her opportunities in academic life. After the death of Biaudét Karttunen worked in the Finnish embassy of Rome because she didn't get academic work. After that Karttunen worked in the Foreign Ministry in Finland. JWaug14 Born and died in Kitee. Lived in Kuopio, Sortavala (Finland), Rome.
