Emma Åkerman was the daughter of a girls’ school principal Emma Perander. She started to study Finnish at an early age and founded the Finnish society with her friends in Wiborg. Later she was an active feminist and founded the women’s association to Wiburg. Close to her heart were temperance, chastity and education. The association organized courses for working class women and vacations for them and their children. Åkerman was also acitve in Finnish party. Two of her daughters became writers. Jwapr14
