Provisional Notes Hilja Pärssinen was very active socialist and a Member of Parliament. She worked in the socialist regime and was forced to leave Finland during the Finnish civil war 1918. She tried to flee to the Switzerland with her husband, but they didn't get passports in St. Petersburg. They then stayed in St. Petersburg and in Estonia, from where they were taken back to Finland. In Finland Pärssinen was arrested for three years. After that she had difficulties finding a job and finally she and her husband founded a school in Wiborg. The last years of life were difficult for Pärssinen, while she fell ill in breast cancer and her husband had an affair with one of family's adopted daughters. JWmar14
