Provisional Notes Daughter of an affluent aristocratic family in Upper-Hungary, she was closely related to prominent literary authors including Imre Madach. She travelled extensively in Europe in her childhood. She married Kalman Toth, the editor of the literary woman's magazine Holgyfutar/Ladies' Courier. Although divorced, she looked after him in his illness. Majthenyi moved to Spain in 1880, then on to Algiers and the Holy Land. She returned to Budapest in 1910, became mentally unstable and died alone in 1915. Author, poet and translator, traveller. NOT MENTIONED IN: - Buck, Guide to women's literature, 1992
