Born in Tiel (23-11-1853), died in Utrecht (26-11-1904). Married to Johannes van Wermeskerken (1847-1918) in 1880. Two sons.
Accused of an attempt to poison her husband, followed by divorce in 1901. Lost custody of her children. Admitted to the Geneeskundig Gesticht voor Krankzinnigen (Insane Asylum) in Utrecht in 1902, with what is now suspected to have been dementia paralytica (neurosyphilis) as a result of an untreated syphilis infection. She continued to write. (see DVN)
