---
The first important Czech woman writer. Writer of fiction and cookery books, author and translator of theater plays.
Her stories belonged to the favourite reading material of young people at that time. Addressed mostly small-town youth with her works. Her works had traditional images of women. Knew contemporary European culture quite well, Gothic novel, Schiller, other German writers. Her works are about love, situated in beautiful landscapes with forests and rocks. Some of her works came out in German at the same time as in Czech. see MOLDANOVÁ.
