Daughter of a wealthy Viennese banker, Terez married Pulszky in 1845 and soon started to describe herself as a Hungarian lady. Her husband's heavy involvement in the 1848-49 revolution, the family emigrated to London where she became part of the most influential circles. In 1861, the family moved to Florence.
