Karolina Eskelin was the second female medic in Finland; she became candidate of medicine 1891 and doctor of medicine in 1896 - she was the first female doctor altogether at the university. She worked as a doctor in Helsinki and Tampere and made study trips. She also worked as a doctor in USA. Eskelin had a practice in Helsinki and she was also along founding a recovery home for poor female patients. Eskelin wrote much about medicine and worked as an editor for medical books.
