MENTIONED IN: - Lerner, Creation of Feminist Consciousness, 1993, discussed p.103-5

At the age of 64 Southcott was said to be pregnant with Shiloh, a divine incarnation, although she was then unmarried and a virgin. Several medical men appeared to confirm the pregnancy. She married a farmer, John Smith shortly before the "birth", but died shortly after. A dissection revealed no foetus and a swelling in the intestines. (FScottJuly12.)
