Notes ['An article in the magazine Koti ja yhteiskunta 12/1892 says: "I can tell best wishes from the writer of \'Pikku Heidi\' etc., Johanna Spyri. I visited her in Zürich because I wanted to see her face to face, for she writes so beautifully and pure for the young adults. I took flowers for her on behalf of Finnish women, not on some mandate, but because I knew that You will be kind to everyone who uses her power for noble ideas. I met her sitting at her writing table and she was happy to hear the name \'Finland\', because many years ago a friend of her visited northern countries and also Turku and Hämeenlinna and Helsinki, and she had told much about the trip and Spyri was found on the country. It is so little known there in south, like a wonderland, and who wouldn\'t want to hear about such. Her gentle, sorrow face told about life experiences. Above her sofa she had a picture of her only son. Many years ago mother had buried this hopeful young man. Her husband, one of the mayors of Zürich, had died earlier. She was also a lonely widow, but from her experience she could write for example \'Wer nur Gott zum Freunde hat\'. She asked about our girl\'s schools and literature for young adults and said that she always warms when she remembers the young ones and writes to them. Because I was interrupting her work that was dear to her, I hurried away, and she sent many regards to Finland. But I hurried to book shop and bought \'\'Verschollen nicht vergessen\' and looked willingly at others--- (list of others, JW) that she has written for children and for those who love children. Because \'what is best for children is good\', get Spyri\'s books response in every heart that is toward the noble, no matter what age. Someone from our land should translate these books that have many fines outside Switzerland, too. The german doctor G. Schneider writes about her: \'It is excellent that a writer that starts to write when she is going on fifty, writes more than ten books, one after another, all of them nice and good.- They are not normal pedagogical children\'s books that tell how to be and not to be but there is a piece of the childhood\'s golden age just as it is; fresh, so that even an old man gains strength. They are art works in content and shape, simple, natural.\'" \nThe writer is H.F., very probably Hanna Favorin. JWapr16']
